THREE VIEWS OF DECAYING TECHNOLOGY

The decaying steel skeleton (ore loading facility), once a crucial part of the Terranera-Capo Bianco mining complex, now stands as a haunting monument to a bygone era.

In the first photograph, the scene is one of impending renewal. The pathway and immediate access to the structure have been restricted due to instability, marking the commencement of restoration work to stabilize the foundations and counteract the effects of erosion. A solitary foundation stone, a silent sentinel of a structure long lost to the elements, rests on the nearby shoreline, bearing witness to a vibrant past.

The middle photo draws the eye closer to the rusted frames, where the deep hues of decay and the marks of recent vandalism tell a story of neglect. The metal’s surface, a canvas of orange and brown, speaks to decades of exposure to the coastal air.

The final image offers a glimpse of hope and renewal. A newly reconstructed pathway and steps demonstrate the diligent work done to secure the area, protecting the remains of this industrial ghost from further ruin.
